Meet a secular person
A few years ago, my family had a three day holiday in Taj Kumarakom near Kottayam in Kerala. It is a lovely place with the backwaters, houseboats and cottages. A cruise on the lake is a wonderful experience. Then we decided to go to Thekkady, the wildlife sanctuary in the Periyar reservoir. Though we could not see much wild life, it was a great experience. On the way back, we hired a taxi. The driver, Majid, a Muslim was a nice person. While passing over a mountain pass, he pointed out the Sabarimala Hills. He began to tell stories about Swami Aiyappan. He told us that he had gone on pilgrimage to Sabarimala. It was amazing that he, a Muslim knew so much about Hindu traditions.
Now there are people who belong to a particular religion, who do not like those belonging to other religions. What a pity! Majid, though a poor taxi driver, inspired us with his secular views.
